Salsology Launch Night
Friday 14th May saw Manchester putting itself back on the Salsa map of the UK, with the launch of a new, pure Salsa night - Salsology. Organised by Emma, Mushi and Kate, Salsology is intended to give the Salsero everything he or she needs. The venue is excellent, with a large wooden dance floor, a good sound system and plenty of space to sit around and chill.
The music on the opening night was provided mainly by Gary (from Birmingham), with Emma and Barry also taking their turns on the decks and was consistently excellent. The lessons at the start of the evening are themed for each event (for example styling one event and spinning technique the next). And to complete the total package, there were even stalls selling Salsa essentials (dance shoes and Salsa t-shirts at this event).
This launch event was really well-attended, drawing dancers from across the UK. I recognised dancers from Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Leeds, Sheffield and London. Despite the impressive attendance, the venue was large enough to accommodate everyone. There was room to dance and it did not get too hot (unlike many Salsa venues).
If you want to experience Salsology for yourself, it will happen every other month and the following dates are lined up:
In addition to the theme class, there will also be a beginners class and an intermediate on1 turn pattern class at every event. For more information (including directions), check out the Salsology website or use one of the following contact numbers: 07973 266227, 07980 880225 or 07788 597805.
